If for some reason you decided you'd really like to see an Indian version of Michael Jackson's thriller video set to some Indian music, then you are SO in luck. Youtube (flash) video. The bassline (at times) is from Michael Jackson's Thriller but it's very different music wise.

Paul Anka is a pretty well known lounge singer. Anyways, he put out an album called "Rock Swings" which features a lot of modern rock songs sung in his style. This page has the info and some samples.

The music video for OK Go's Here It Goes Again is pretty cool. Nicely choreographed dancing with treadmills. Youtube video. (Flash based).

Johnathan Coulton is a musician and while I haven't heard most of his stuff, I got linked to his Baby Got Back cover (from little. yellower.differenter!) and wow, it's pretty damn good.

Yes, the website is in Chinese and I can't read it but there's a video embedded in the web page of this guy singing. He can get impressively high. In fact the first time he started wailing at a high pitch I didn't think it was him because, well, I didn't think it was possible to sing that high. The song is also pretty darn catchy.

Ever wonder how much it would cost to have your very own private concert? Well, here's a list of some "hot" artists. Interestly, Death Cab for Cutie costs $75k while Talib Kweli costs $25k.

The video looks pretty old but I just found this today. Denny Blazin Hazen, who's gotta be the predecessor to "iconic" white rappers like Snow and Vanilla Ice. After he gets through the introduction where he claims that "you'll be blazed" if you watch his video, he gets to his rapping which can be described as . . . .well, I'm not sure that I can think of words to describe it.

This is a long YouTube video of a Korean TV Christmas special. There's a bunch of random stuff in it like singing, dancing, and magic. But I was just really impressed by the first act where this Korean guy sings the Christmas Song. He sings it well and in perfect English. Impressive.

As you can probably guess, I love watching videos of people playing musical instruments and/or singing. Amateur of course interests me more. So one of the things I do when I'm bored is surf through YouTube, Google Video, or whatnot for them. Today's picks (from YouTube):

Eric Michael Hopper is one of the best (if not the best) I've seen recently. And here's a Hmong girl playing and singing. Her playing is ok but she has one of those sultry type voices and sings really well. Would be one of the best if her playing was on par with her singing.

GoriFater has a bunch of sheet music from video games. It's pretty cool. Now I just need a keyboard.

I was looking up random piano playing videos on YouTube and I came upon one of Lee-Hom Wang improvising a bit. Basically the lady plays a little melody and he improves on it. Then she gives him something to sing with it and he sings it. Then she plays something and he accompanies her on the piano. He's quite good so I was wondering who he was. I mean it was obvious he was an Asian pop star, but looking at his Wikipedia entry, he's one crazy ass mofo. Like insanely smart (didn't miss a question, insanely musically talented, and athletic. The Wiki article sounds like it was written by a totally obsessed fan though so I'm kinda iffy on how true it is.
EDIT: Hah, I just realized this is the guy who my parents were offering to buy tickets for us to see in Vegas. Hmmmm, he would be interesting to see actually now watching more of his performances online. Like he actually is scary talented.

Scott Stapp got punked by some kids. Apparently he was trying to hook up a booty call and they tricked him into going very far and getting no booty. Poor Scott Stapp. Wait, booty call? Isn't he married? And isn't he supposed to be very Christian?

Wow, this guy is awesome. But his guitar playing is very different than what most people are used to hearing. It's pretty much funk I guess. :) Youtube video (flash player).

Wow, just wow. Since Cal's in Germany, and Germans love Hasslehoff, here he is in all of his glory, singing Hooked on a Feeling. This is his video for it (embedded video).

This high school band is playing some songs by a guy called DJ Shadow. It sounds pretty close to the real thing surprisingly. (Yes, I know this is pretty old).
